Kandy Chartered Accountant Mr. Duminda Hulangamuwa Appointed as Presidential Advisor

Kandy Chartered Accountant and Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Duminda Hulangamuwa, has been appointed as a Senior Consultant on Economic Affairs and Finance to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. This honorary appointment, made without salary or benefits, was confirmed by Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath during the weekly post-Cabinet media briefing.

Alongside Mr. Hulangamuwa, Prof. Anil Fernando of Sri Jayawardenapura University has also been appointed to advise the president on matters of finance and the economy. Minister Herath emphasized that both appointments are strictly honorary, with no payments or perks involved.

The appointments were made in accordance with Article 41 (1) of the Constitution, which grants the president the authority to appoint his staff in consultation with the Cabinet of Ministers. These roles became effective on September 24, 2024.
